Fantastic 4th

We had another fun 4th of July! It was a bit of a marathon, so we're all dragging today and taking it easy. We slept in until almost 8:30 - major treat! Here's a recap of the day.

First we had the Barton Hills neighborhood parade. Spencer entered the bike decorating contest. He didn't win, but we're demanding a recount!

Daddy and Spencer did a great job!
Spencer and I were in charge of his helmet - firecracker head!
At the starting line.
Loved this guy!
Parading down Barton Hills Drive.
We found his new friend Charlie from down the street.

Getting a push from Daddy as we made our way back to the car.
After the post-parade party at the elementary school where we had ice cream and treats and played with Charlie, we headed home and watched The Muppets movie. Spencer got a kick out of it and so did we. Makes me want to find the old TV series for him.

Next was the big party at Sandy's house. She had the same giant waterslide as last year. I am not exaggerating when I tell you that Spencer must've spent 5 solid hours going up and down that slide. It's no wonder he's so tired today. We stayed at the party from 1:30 until 8:30! It was a different experience this year because we didn't have to keep such a close eye on our boy and we actually got to visit with friends and family a lot. It was a really fun afternoon!
Wheeeeeeeeee!
My handsome guy.
Spencer and Sarah having a blurry blast.
Tatted up.

After debating whether we would get the Bad Parents of the Year award if we skipped the fireworks, we decided... to skip the fireworks. Spencer hasn't asked about them, so I guess he's not traumatized by that decision. Lisa and Sandy had lots of sparklers at the party, so he got a little taste of pyrotechnic excitement.

And I think this little video just sums up the summertime fun perfectly!
