Planning Ahead

Here's a random conversation that Spencer and I had while doing a puzzle this morning.

Spencer: "You will be a ghost, I will be a pumpkin and Daddy will be a... skeleton!"
Me: "Oh, for Halloween?"
Spencer: "Yeah, Halloween. I will be so cute."

And here's a random, non-related photo. Happy Monday!

BBQ, Baby

Grannie and Paw-Paw came to visit this weekend and today we drove out to Lockhart for some good ole' Texas BBQ at Smitty's Market. (Spencer ate crackers and bread and couldn't have been happier.)

I noticed today that Spencer called me "baby" several times. And just now when I put him to bed, he asked, "What are you gonna do, baby?" as I was leaving. The boy cracks me up.

Time to Make the Pigs

I'm not going to win any awards for consistent blogging in 2011, huh? Here's a little something until I have more time to write a proper update.

I've only taken a couple of photos in January - gotta get busy with that. I love this one of Spencer and Dave making pigs. And here's a shot Spencer took with my camera that I think is quite cool.

EDITOR'S NOTE 1/25/11: It has been brought to my attention that Spencer didn't actually take the crayon photo. My bad.

First Blog Update of 2011

We had a laid-back New Year's Eve. Geep spent the day with Spencer while Dave worked and I ran a few errands and even sneaked in a manicure. That evening, Spencer got squeaky clean before bedtime, then Dave and I just ate dinner, had some bubbly and watched a movie to ring in 2011. It was just what the doctor ordered after the busy Christmas season.

Daddy took Spencer's stats Sunday morning: 32.5 pounds and 37 inches tall. It feels like he's really growing up right now and becoming such a big boy.

I've been slacking on jotting down some of the things he says that make me smile, but here's one fresh on my mind from tonight. I was reading him a book before bedtime that described all the things the main character likes to do: painting, building sandcastles, playing with friends, etc. I asked Spencer, "Who are some of your friends?" He paused, grinned and said, "My grandmothers." I know a couple of ladies who are going to enjoy that answer!
