We flew to San Diego on Saturday, May 31. We took the plunge and paid for airfare this time instead of using miles so that we could take the short-n-sweet direct flight on Southwest. Such a good decision! Here's Spencer at the airport looking oh so grown up.
We landed around 4:00, got our rental car (a Dodge Charger, much to Spencer's delight) and headed to the Carlsbad area. We had dinner overlooking the ocean at the Harbor Fish Cafe, then walked down to the beach. Spencer was so excited - he stripped off his shirt and shoes and couldn't wait to feel the Pacific. Cold cold cold! He also found a neat feather.

After we hung out a little while, we checked into Homewood Suites for the evening and crashed after a long day, especially with the time change.
