Boom Boom Boom! Uh-oh

Now that we've removed the rocking base, Spencer loves playing on his Rody Horse.

Big Weekend in San Antonio

We went to San Antonio last weekend because Dave and I became Godparents to our little friend Pearl. After our rehearsal and class Saturday morning, we took Spencer to the SA Zoo. Two things we learned: 1) Don't go to the zoo around lunchtime because many of the animals will be taking a siesta, and 2) Never wear jeans to the zoo - we burned up!

After the zoo we went to Geep and Pop's house. Geep and I took Spencer to a new neat park. Spencer was really interested in the cool dog park areas and he had fun going up and down the doggie ramps. We also saw a group of wiener dogs having a birthday party, but I didn't get pics of that.

Geep and Pop babysat Spencer Saturday night while Dave and I went out to a fabulous dinner at Dough. They also hung out with him Sunday morning while we went to church for Pearl's baptism and to a little party afterward. When we got back to their house, Spencer was napping. That was quite a feat for Geep to pull off!

Weeeeeeeeeeeee! Fun at Mueller Park

Dave just emailed me these pictures from their morning at Mueller Park. I love that our iPhones keep me connected with my boys all day!

Such a Fun Week

Daddy had a freelance job at an agency this week so Spencer got to hang out with Tracy, Cooper and Jessie for 4 whole days. He had so much fun, which is no surprise since the Buchanans rock! They spent a lot of time at our house playing with the water table, riding around in the wagon, coloring and just having a great time. I took him over to their house for a few hours on Thursday. Tracy said when he saw their swimming pool, he screamed, "WATER!" and kept running around the fence. He also loved seeing their chickens and playing with their dog. On Friday, cousin Kenny came over to play with Spencer, but unfortunately the weather kept them from going to the park like they had planned. But we did get to go have a yummy lunch at Azul Tequila. Dave and I were so lucky that our friends could help us out of a jam on such short notice.

We went to the ranch on Saturday. Spencer went on lots of rides on the EZ-Go with Geep, played with water and got a big surprise when Daddy made him a sandbox! He really wanted to help Daddy and Pop with their tractor maintenance, but that's a few years off. Spencer also spotted a deer on the dam, saw a big snake that slithered up on the lawn from the pond, heard lots of birds and saw tons of fuzzy caterpillars. In another moment of questionable parenting, I let him drink water from the hand pump this morning. A few hours later he got really sick, so of course we're wondering if that caused it... but luckily it didn't turn into an all-day puke-a-thon. Other than that, it was a great visit with Geep and Pop at the ranch.

Mother's Day Weekend

I had such a special second Mother's Day. I celebrated what a lucky girl I am to be Spencer's mommy and my mom's daughter. Plus, I got a really sweet gift from my boys; got to see both of my grandmothers, my dad, sisters and bro-in-law; picked more dewberries; and ate tons of crab legs and homemade gumbo! I love being a mom and I'm glad there's a day carved out to reflect on what a blessing motherhood is.

19 Months Old

Dave and I used to talk about how weird it would be "one day" when we would drive up to the house and Spencer would get out of the car and walk across the yard to go inside. When he was in his infant car seat it seemed so far away, but here we are. I thought about those "one day" conversations as my 19-month-old-big-boy ran across the yard to greet me this week.

Big Day! First Haircut

Our dear friend Tracy gave Spencer his first haircut this morning. Her strategy was awesome - she let him dig through her purse and play with her phone and he barely noticed that anything was happening to his hair. We didn't want to go the "little businessman" route, so Tracy cleaned up the front and sides quite a bit but left some of his sweet curls in the back. It looks so cute!

Water Table

I had never heard of these water table things until I saw a picture of Spencer's buds Piper and Beckett playing with one. I knew Spence had to have one - he loves pouring water into different containers and playing outdoors. So he and Daddy went to Toys R Us today and came home with this cool water table, aka "Aqua Babysitter," for our little mixologist.

First Step Toward the Tour + A Shout-Out to Spencer

Daddy bought Spencer his first toy golf set today. He took to it like a fish to water. Dave only got smacked in the head one time, too!

I can't believe I haven't written about this yet: Spencer is sleeping through the night now! It started about 3 weeks ago. He falls asleep between 7:30 and 8:00 PM and wakes up around 6:00 AM, though it's been later the past few days. He rarely makes a peep once he's asleep. Dave and I feel like it's truly a miracle. It was hard, but I think we were all ready to make this transition. Spencer has been in a better mood during the day now that he's not waking up every 2-3 hours for some mommy time. And I feel like some of my brain cells are returning. I'm so proud of my big boy!
