Fun Weekend

Daddy and Spencer spent all day together Saturday because I was having a girls' weekend with Susan, Susan and Jenni. They headed to Butler Park early that morning for some remote control car action. Then they tried the Pitch and Putt course for the first time. Spencer absolutely loved playing "real" golf.

We hit another milestone on Sunday: First movie in a theater! I know Spencer has gone to a couple of IMAX movies, but Planes was his first full-length film in a theater. He liked it and said he wants to go see it again.
After the movie there was a quick stop at Amy's Ice Creams next door followed by browsing at TreeHouse. Most 4-year-olds love looking at cabinetry, back splashes and faucets, right? I think he could spend hours in there. Cracks me up.
And this picture is actually from Thursday evening, but I had to share. What a grown-up looking little prep. Be still my heart! And if you can believe, he styled that outfit. He wanted to wear a "nice shirt" to go with those "nice shorts." And of course the ever-present driving moccasins. We are on the hunt for a new pair - these (which were hand-me-downs from our friend Camp, as are the shorts in this pic) are showing a lot of wear-and-tear and are getting too small.

Hard to believe he's not starting kindergarten this year. Just looking so big lately. Love him!

Golf Golf Golf

On Friday, Daddy and Spencer walked to Kerbey Lane for breakfast. When they were finished Spencer asked, "Where can we walk to now?" So they headed down South Lamar to check out Tuesday Morning. Well it's a good thing they did, because there just happened to be an awesome junior golf bag and club set on clearance.

When you have new golf gear, of course you have to head to the driving range to test it out.

On Saturday, Spencer said he wanted all three of us to go to the driving range. Of course we think Spencer's a junior Tiger, but Dave was a proud Daddy indeed when the golf pro there commented that he had been watching Spencer and he has a really good swing for age 4 and even called him a prodigy!

And what better thing to do on a Sunday afternoon than to hit the tent sale at Golfsmith? Daddy was in the market for a thing or two, but guess who came away with all the stuff? Spencer found some golf shoes (marked down to $17 from $60!), a golf cap, a glove and driver. He practiced inside the store where you can hit toward a big screen and a computer calculates the distance, etc. In this video he's making sure our friend David Baker is watching.

Spencer also hit a small bucket of balls at the driving range outside the store and practiced putting before we headed out.

When I was watching Spencer today at the driving range, I thought of the picture below and wanted to recreate it. I wasn't able to get the exact picture I wanted, but makes me sentimental to compare the Spencer of almost 3 years ago with his first golf set and my big boy golfer today.

Driving Range

Yesterday before I took Spencer for school, he asked if Daddy could take him to the driving range  when he picked him up. The rain didn't show up as predicted so they were able to go. They got a bucket of 100 balls. Spencer let Daddy hit about 7 or 8 of them and he took care of the rest. Just love the tongue-wagging concentration!

Pebble Beach Time

Pop took Daddy on a trip of lifetime to play golf in Pebble Beach last month. I wish I had shot video of when he got home and Spencer ran outside to greet him. Beyond adorable. But here's a little footage of Spencer opening his Pebble Beach souvenirs.

And a sweet lil' picture of my boys sporting their new caps.

We spent some time with Paw-Paw while Daddy was gone, both in Austin and Angleton.

 Another fun golf update soon...

Golf Quote

I can't believe I forgot to include this one in my last entry. While watching the Masters golf tournament Spencer said, "Daddy, I want to play in this tournament someday." Then a few seconds later, just before Daddy's head exploded, "If you hit the ball in the sand does that mean you get to go in there and play?"

Preschool PGA Tour

I'm not biased or anything, but I think Spencer's going to be a good little golfer. Guess he wouldn't be a Horridge if that weren't the case! Here's some footage from a driving range outing this week.

Catch-Up

This is a quick catch-up blog. I found some pictures on my phone that I forgot to download, so thought I'd share them here real quick. I probably need one more blog after this one to really be caught up (I have some good videos...), but one thing at a time.

I had to go to DC for a several days in late September. Daddy and Spencer did a lot of fun things while I was gone. For example, they built a car out of a cardboard box and went to the Austin Zoo.

Paw-Paw came to town for Spencer's party a day early. We went to see the peacocks at Mayfield Park. Snapped a great picture while we were there:

Our friend Susan came over to play with Spencer last Sunday while Dave and I went to a movie for our anniversary. They had a great time playing golf, building stuff with legos, playing games, watching Richard Scarry videos and having stare-down competitions with Henry. When I was putting Spencer to bed that night he asked if Susan was coming back tomorrow.

There are a few new pictures in the September and October photo albums, FYI. Hope y'all have a great weekend!
