Quotes and a Score

A couple of quotes from the last week.
  • "Why do you want to bother my nerves?!?" Said to Daddy while they played Life of George.
  • "Can I have sauteed mushrooms instead of french fries?" Mushrooms are a new love, and when I saw them on the menu at a restaurant he excitedly requested a substitution.
  • "Mommy, when are you going to have another baby? I would just like to be able to play with someone you had born." Ugh, that one just about broke my heart. :(
And I was lucky enough to capture Spencer scoring a goal during a recent Soccer Cubs scrimmage. Team Cherry dominated! And it was Crazy Socks Day, in case you're wondering.

Soccer, a Party and a Pow-Wow

Our last couple of Saturdays have been unusually jam-packed and today was no exception. Spencer had his last Soccer Cubs of this session and little did we know that the parents would be participating. Well, I didn't have on my soccer shoes, so I just took pictures.

After soccer we headed to Pease Park for our little friend Pearl's third birthday party. She had a great musician and bubble machine!
After the party we headed home for rest time. Mommy fell asleep and was allowed to nap for almost two hours. It was awesome! We watched the beginning of the football game, then Spencer and I headed to the Austin Pow-Wow, a Native American festival where we saw a lot of beautiful traditional costumes and watched people dancing, chanting and playing drums. Here's a video.

Funny moment: Before we left the house, I realized Spencer was wearing his Mayflower/Plymouth t-shirt. Thank goodness I realized how inappropriate that would be to wear to that event!

Soccer Cubs, the Sequel

Spencer missed his second Soccer Cubs class because we were in Houston, so we were psyched to go to a class again over the weekend. On tap this week was some obstacle course work.

First, they got familiar with the course:

Then they did a run-through with the ball:

It's fun to see Spencer in a class environment like this - he's confident and excited to try something new, which makes me know we've done the right thing by not rushing him into organized activities. Proud of my little Soccer Cub.

Soccer Cubs

I'm behind on blogging so I'll be skipping around a bit. Starting off with a fun activity from the weekend.

Spencer started Soccer Cubs yesterday. It's held at an indoor soccer club and his class is for ages 3-4. Two teachers lead the kids in games to teach them the basics of soccer, but it's not a soccer team. No sir, I'm not ready for the madness of organized sports for the pre-school set. Spencer really enjoyed himself and it was fun to watch him. I think we picked the perfect time for something like this.

And here's a short video of Spencer learning how to "Tick-Tock" - the Soccer Cubs version of dribbling. Adorbs!
